TiO2-Doped GeSe Monolayer: A highly selective gas sensor for SF6 decomposed species detection based on DFT method

Hao Sun et al.

Summary: The TiO2-doped GeSe monolayer proposed in this study showed improved conductivity and selectivity for SF6 decomposition species, with increased sensitivity and the ability to inhibit electron transfer. The ideal adsorption energies of the TiO2-GeSe monolayer ensure excellent response and recovery ability, theoretically solving the recycling issue in industrial applications. Compared to other 2D materials, the TiO2-doped GeSe monolayer exhibits superior sensing detection advantages, providing a theoretical foundation for resistive chemical sensors used in industrial insulation equipment.

NH3 capture and detection by metal-decorated germanene: a DFT study

Akari Narayama Sosa et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption behavior of ammonia on pristine and metal-decorated germanene using a first-principles approach. The results show that metal-decorated germanene exhibits enhanced adsorption properties for ammonia molecules, especially in the case of Sc, Mg, and Li atoms. The adsorption energy and desorption time calculations suggest that Sc-decorated germanene can effectively trap ammonia at room temperature.

Enhanced reversible hydrogen storage performance of light metal-decorated boron-doped siligene: A DFT study

Brandom Jhoseph Cid et al.

Summary: The use of nanomaterials for hydrogen storage is important, but current potential nanomaterials have low density and stability at room temperature. This study investigates the hydrogen storage capabilities of Na-, K- and Ca-decorated B-doped siligene monolayer (BSiGeML) using density functional theory calculations. The results show that boron doping improves the interaction between metal adatoms and the siligene monolayer. K- and Ca-decorated BSiGeML can bind up to seven H2 molecules per metal adatom, while Na-decorated BSiGeML only adsorbs four H2 molecules per site. At room temperature, all H2 molecules adsorbed on Na- and Ca-decorated BSiGeML are stable at mild pressure. Metal decoration on both sides of BSiGeML may exceed the target of 5.5 wt% hydrogen gravimetric density proposed by DOE for 2025. K- and Ca-decorated BSiGeML could be efficient hydrogen molecular storage media compared to undoped SiGeML and other 2D pristine materials.
