The Water-Based Synthesis of Platinum Nanoparticles Using KrF Excimer Laser Ablation

Oana Andreea Lazar et al.

Summary: Our work presents a comprehensive study on the synthesis of fully metallic platinum nanoparticles using laser ablation in double distilled water. The prepared colloids were characterized using advanced techniques, and the influence of laser fluence and repetition rate on the characteristics of the nanoparticles and the ablation process were analyzed. The smallest mean size of 2.2 nm was achieved with a laser fluence of 2.3 J cm(-2) at a repetition rate of 10 Hz, and the narrowest size distribution was obtained at a fluence of 2.3 J cm(-2) and a repetition rate of 40 Hz. The proposed eco-friendly synthesis route shows potential for industrial production.

Efficient photo-thermal conversion using Pt nanofluid prepared by laser ablation in liquid

Fatemeh Seifikar et al.

Summary: This study environmentally-friendly prepared Pt-nanofluids with localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) property using laser ablation in liquids (LAL) with H2O as the working fluid. The Pt nanoparticles obtained had an average diameter of 6 nm and were surrounded by H2O molecules, providing excellent durability. Fluorescence spectroscopy and microscopy images indicated the sample had fluorescence property, allowing for more light absorption and conversion to heat. The Pt-nanofluids showed high efficiency in light to heat conversion and demonstrated potential in solar energy harvesting.

Structural, optical and morphology properties of Pt NPs synthesized by laser ablation: case study on effect of electric field

Mohammad Bakhtiari et al.

Summary: This article investigates the synthesis and characterization of platinum nanoparticles in the field of metal nanoparticles, which have been of great importance in the past decade. The authors applied the pulsed laser ablation in liquid ambient technique to fabricate platinum nanoparticles with high stability and purity, and analyzed their structure and optics through XRD patterns and UV-visible spectrometry. Scanning electron microscopy and Transmission electron microscopy images provided useful data on the formation of nanoparticles on the surface, and the agglomeration and shape of particles were also discussed.

Synergistic effect in a two-phase laser procedure for production of silver nanoparticles colloids applicable in ophthalmology

A. S. Nikolov et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the production of Ag nanoparticles in water solution through a two-phase pulsed laser method for therapeutic ophthalmological applications. By adjusting laser parameters, nanoparticles with sizes less than 10 nm and narrow size distribution were successfully obtained. The synthesized AgNPs colloidal aqueous solutions showed antimicrobial properties, especially against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, suggesting a potential non-invasive method for ocular infections prevention and treatment.

In situ probing of Pt/TiO2 activity in low-temperature ammonia oxidation

Lidiya S. Kibis et al.

Summary: The improvement of low-temperature activity of supported platinum catalysts in selective ammonia oxidation remains a challenging task. Recent developments in in situ/operando characterization techniques have provided new insights into the correlation between system properties and catalytic activity. This study used NAP-XPS and operando XAS techniques to investigate Pt/TiO2 catalysts in ammonia oxidation, revealing that different synthesis methods can affect the catalyst's performance in the reaction.
