Photocatalytic Inactivation of Salmonella typhimurium by Floating Carbon-Doped TiO2 Photocatalyst

Sarunas Varnagiris et al.

Summary: The study investigates the application of floating photocatalysts for eliminating Salmonella typhimurium in polluted water, utilizing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) beads as support for carbon-doped TiO2 films. Results show that more than 95% of the bacteria were decomposed in five consecutive treatment cycles, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method on thermal-sensitive substrates. Thorough analysis of the deposited films was also conducted to confirm the suitability of the technique for forming high-quality photocatalytic active films.

Floating Carbon-Doped TiO2 Photocatalyst with Metallic Underlayers Investigation for Polluted Water Treatment under Visible-Light Irradiation

Sarunas Varnagiris et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of metallic underlayers on carbon-doped TiO2 films for RhB decomposition and Salmonella typhimurium inactivation under visible-light irradiation. It found that Ni/C-doped-TiO2 film combination showed the best photocatalytic performance. The results suggest that the Ni underlayer may have direct and indirect effects on the bacteria inactivation process and the floating C-doped TiO2 photocatalyst with Ni underlayer could be a possible solution for photocatalyst recovery.

A Ternary Photocatalyst with Double Heterojunctionsfor Efficient Diesel Oil Degradation

Er-Peng Bao et al.

Summary: The introduction of a p-type NiO semiconductor into the binary TiO2/g-C3N4 photocatalyst has effectively accelerated the separation of photo-generated electron-hole pairs, leading to improved degradation efficiency for diesel oil under simulated sunlight. The ternary TiO2/NiO/g-C3N4 catalyst outperforms single-component and binary photocatalysts, showcasing a promising approach for high-performance diesel oil degradation in the future.
