Higher-Order Spatially Squeezed Beam for Enhanced Spatial Measurements

Zhi Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel quantum state called mth order spatially squeezed state to achieve high-precision spatial measurement of laser beams beyond the quantum limit. By experimentally generating high-order mode squeezed light with a maximum mode order of 5, the signal-to-noise ratio is significantly improved compared to the base mode. The results show that high-order spatially squeezed states enhance measurement precision beyond the shot noise limit and are more prominent in back-action noise reduction. High-precision spatial measurement has potential practical applications in high-sensitivity atomic force microscope and super-resolution quantum imaging.

Enhanced on-chip phase measurement by inverse weak value amplification

Meiting Song et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates weak value amplification on an integrated photonic chip with a multi-mode interferometer, showing improved measurement capabilities. Weak value amplification helps amplify interferometric signals without amplifying technical noises, enabling sensitivity at the shot-noise-limit. The results pave the way for a more sensitive, robust, and compact platform for measuring phase in fields such as coherent communications and the quantum domain.
