Amplitude and phase relation of harmonics in nonlinear focused ultrasound

Delin Wu et al.

Summary: When studying nonlinear focused ultrasound, the amplitude and phase relation of harmonics are crucial for understanding focusing gain. With increasing source pressure, different harmonics show varying trends in focusing gain, while the relative phase remains relatively stable.

Amplitude and phase relation of harmonics in nonlinear focused ultrasound

Delin Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the amplitude and phase relation of harmonics in nonlinear focused ultrasound through numerical simulations and measurements. The results show that as the source pressure increases, the focusing gain for the fundamental component tends to decrease while the focusing gains for the second and third harmonics rise, with little change in relative phases.

Holographic mirrors for spatial ultrasound modulation in contactless acoustic energy transfer systems

Ahmed Sallam et al.

Summary: This work introduces a flat acoustic mirror capable of creating arbitrary pressure patterns in a target plane by manipulating the wavefront using a metallic holographic lens that introduces a relative phase shift. The phase-shifting lens, designed using an iterative angular spectrum algorithm, has been experimentally validated for constructing complex pressure patterns underwater.

Acoustic holograms for directing arbitrary cavitation patterns

Jinwook Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, the generation of arbitrary shape two-dimensional microbubble cavitation fields was demonstrated using three-dimensional-printed acoustic lenses and cavitation-sensitive acoustic phantoms. By shaping a 1MHz acoustic beam as the character 7 on a target plane, researchers were able to produce a cavitation map following the intended 2D pattern. The cavitation pattern was found to be similar to the acoustic pressure map of the excitation beam, indicating successful generation of the desired cavitation field.
