Ultracompact methane steam reforming reactor based on microwaves susceptible structured catalysts for distributed hydrogen production

Eugenio Meloni et al.

Summary: Hydrogen as a green energy source can be produced through methane steam reforming, but traditional methods have limitations in terms of efficiency and cost. Microwave heating could overcome these limitations by efficiently transferring heat to the catalyst, resulting in faster reactions and higher energy efficiency. Initial tests showed promising results, with the system reaching high temperatures and methane conversion rates close to thermodynamic equilibrium values. Future studies will focus on optimizing the microwave reactor to further increase energy efficiency and improve CH4 conversion rates for enhanced hydrogen production.

Hydrogen-rich syngas production by liquid phase pulsed electrodeless discharge

Yanbin Xin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the production of hydrogen-rich syngas from ethanol/water mixtures using pulsed electrodeless discharge. The research has found that high peak voltage and appropriate electrode distance are crucial for achieving high yield and efficiency. The main components of the produced gas are H2 and CO, with H2 generation being a key factor influencing CO production.

Temporal evolution of electron energy distribution function and its correlation with hydrogen radical generation in atmospheric-pressure methane needle-plane discharge plasmas

Yadi Liu et al.

Summary: Non-thermal plasmas have great potential in low-temperature activation of methane due to the energetic active species present. The temporal evolution of electron energy distribution function and its relation to hydrogen radical generation in atmospheric-pressure CH4 needle-plane discharge plasma were numerically investigated. Proper selection of electron energy distribution and H radical density is crucial for ensuring good product selectivity and conversion rate without excessive energy consumption.

Characteristics of methane wet reforming driven by microwave plasma in liquid phase for hydrogen production

Qiuying Wang et al.

Summary: This paper demonstrates the use of liquid-phase microwave discharge plasma for methane reforming to produce hydrogen, achieving a methane conversion rate of 94.3% and a hydrogen concentration of 74.0%. By optimizing the electrode structure, higher hydrogen yield and energy efficiency were obtained, with the highest energy efficiency of hydrogen production reaching approximately 0.92 mmol/kJ.

Effects of electrode configurations, solution pH, TiO2 addition on hydrogen production by in-liquid discharge plasma

Yanbin Xin et al.

Summary: In-situ hydrogen production from ethanol/water mixtures through liquid discharge can increase the flow rate and concentration percentage of hydrogen. The needle-12 needle configuration has higher energy efficiency, and the addition of TiO2 can improve the hydrogen production effect to a certain extent.
