Antibody-mediated autoimmune encephalitis evaluated by 18F-DPA714 PET/MRI

Ruinan Shen et al.

Summary: The SARS-CoV-2 vaccine is considered the most effective method to prevent infection, but in very rare cases, autoimmune neurological diseases may occur. This article reports three rare cases of autoimmune encephalitis with definite auto-antibody after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, all of whom had good prognosis after treatment. 18F-DPA-714 PET/MRI may be a powerful tool for quantitative analysis of neuroinflammation in patients of autoimmune encephalitis.

Encephalitis with Autoantibodies against the Glutamate Kainate Receptors GluK2

Jon Landa et al.

Summary: This study aimed to report the detection of antibodies against GluK2 in patients with autoimmune encephalitis and investigate the clinical-immunological features and antibody effects. Using various methods such as cell-based assays and immunoprecipitation, the study confirmed the specificity of GluK2 antibodies and their effects on GluK2 internalization and currents. The results suggest that GluK2-abs are associated with encephalitis with significant cerebellar involvement and their effects are mainly mediated by GluK2 internalization.
