Copper nanoparticles-containing tellurite glasses: An efficient SERS substrate

Tamires M. Machado et al.

Summary: This work reports the use of CuNPs-containing tellurite glasses as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates for detecting the molecular probe 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) at low concentrations. The structural features of the glasses were analyzed and a glass-ceramic was obtained through heat treatment. The glass-ceramic showed better SERS results compared to the glass and glass-metal composite, suggesting an efficient enhancement mechanism. The SERS spectra of bpy solutions further confirmed the effectiveness of CuNPs-containing tellurite glasses as SERS substrates. This work contributes to the development of a simple and efficient approach for obtaining SERS substrates.

Controlling Photoluminescence for Optoelectronic Applications via Precision Fabrication of Quantum Dot/Au Nanoparticle Hybrid Assemblies

Anum Nisar et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for assembling metal and semiconductor nanocrystals into hybrid structures using DNA-based self-assembly. The assembled structures, including dimers and higher-order core-satellite structures, have high purity and can be used for fundamental investigation of the plasmon-exciton interaction. The detuning of energy was found to result in lengthening of the quantum dot emission lifetime and enhancement in steady-state photoluminescence.

NV-plasmonics: modifying optical emission of an NV- center via plasmonic metal nanoparticles

Harini Hapuarachchi et al.

Summary: The nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in diamond is highly sensitive to various factors and can be optically interrogated. By utilizing plasmonic resonances, the brightness and collection efficiency of NV centers can be enhanced, which is important for their application in sensing devices. However, the interaction between NV centers and plasmonic structures is not well-explored. This study presents a general theory of NV-plasmonic nanoparticle interactions and provides a quantitative explanation for existing experimental measurements.
