Comparative analysis of five different methods to design a breed-specific SNP panel for cattle

Harshit Kumar et al.

Summary: The study described a method for reducing the number of SNPs to develop a breed-specific genetic panel. Different methods were used to select SNP panels, including Delta, Pairwise F-ST, informativeness for assignment, FIFS, and MAF-LD. The MAF-LD method showed appropriate clustering compared to other panels, with 591 breed-specific SNPs identified and annotated using bioinformatics software.

Detecting the differential genomic variants using cross-population phenotype-associated variant (XP-PAV) of the Landrace and Yorkshire pigs in Korea

Young-Sup Lee et al.

Summary: This study used XP-PAV analysis to reveal genetic differences related to gene effects and selection signals between Landrace and Yorkshire pigs, involving immune and metabolic pathways. The method provides researchers with a new approach to identify genomic variations.

Profile for mRNA transcript abundances in the pig endometrium where inflammation was induced by Escherichia coli

Barbara Jana et al.

Summary: The study investigated the transcriptomic profiles of pig endometrium affected by inflammation, revealing 189 differentially abundant mRNA transcripts. These findings provide insights into potential mechanisms of uterine inflammation and form a basis for future research on regulating inflammation in animals and humans.

OptM: estimating the optimal number of migration edges on population trees using Treemix

Robert R. Fitak

Summary: The study shows that inferring the optimal number of migration events in population trees can be achieved by examining the second-order rate of change in likelihood (Δm), which performs equally well as current recommendations for Treemix. This method may be preferable in large, complex population histories.
