Lactic acid wastewater treatment by photosynthetic bacteria and simultaneous production of protein and pigments

Fan Meng et al.

Summary: Photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) were used for wastewater treatment and simultaneous production of valuable biomass. The study showed that PSB could effectively remove pollutants and produce protein, carotenoid, and bacteriochlorophyll. The results demonstrated high removal rates of COD and NH4+-N, as well as high concentrations of protein, carotenoid, and bacteriochlorophyll in the treated wastewater.

DNA Aptamer-Cyanine Complexes as Generic Colorimetric Small-Molecule Sensors

Obtin Alkhamis et al.

Summary: Aptamers have great potential as biorecognition elements for sensors, but current aptamer-based assays often lack the required sensitivity and selectivity. This study presents a rational approach to develop colorimetric cyanine dye-displacement assays that can be widely applied to DNA aptamers, accelerating the development and use of mix-and-measure assays for various analytical applications.

2-Aminopurine Fluorescence Spectroscopy for Probing a Glucose Binding Aptamer

Chang Lu et al.

Summary: In this study, the binding of glucose to a DNA aptamer was investigated using fluorescence spectroscopy. The results showed that the binding between glucose and 2AP had a high affinity and required specific ions for the binding process. Additionally, the detection limits of glucose under different conditions were determined.

Selection of DNA Aptamers for Sensing Uric Acid in Simulated Tears

Yibo Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, DNA aptamers for uric acid were obtained using a library-immobilization method. Two representative aptamers with different binding orientations to uric acid were selected after 18 rounds of selection. Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and fluorescence spectroscopy data showed that one of the aptamers specifically required a high concentration of Na+ ions for binding. This aptamer was engineered into a fluorescent biosensor based on the strand-displacement reaction, achieving a limit of detection of 90nM uric acid.
