Simultaneous enumeration of Cronobacter sakazakii and Staphylococcus aureus in powdered infant foods through duplex TaqMan real-time PCR

Xueqin Xie et al.

Summary: A duplex TaqMan real-time PCR assay was developed for simultaneous enumeration of Cronobacter sakazakii and Staphylococcus aureus in powdered infant foods. The assay was highly specific and could quantify the pathogens without the need for enrichment. Bacterial counts derived from the assay correlated well with those from traditional plating methods.
