High-performance electrochemical sensing of hazardous pesticide Paraoxon using BiVO4 nano dendrites equipped catalytic strips

Praveen Kumar Gopi et al.

Summary: The study focused on synthesizing and characterizing a Bismuth Vanadate catalyst, which was successfully applied as an active electrode material for an electrochemical sensor application. The modified electrode exhibited excellent electrochemical sensing performance for ethyl Paraoxon with a low detection limit and good sensitivity, along with reproducibility, repeatability, stability, and selectivity. The proposed catalyst showed promising results in practical application for detecting Paraoxon in river water samples, making it a desirable candidate for rapid electrochemical sensing.

Biomass derived carbon dot decorated ssDNA for a 'turn-on' fluorescent assay for detection of Staphylococcus aureus MNase

Chandan Hunsur Ravikumar et al.

Summary: In this research, a novel 'turn on' fluorescence aptasensor based on an energy transfer mechanism was designed using ssDNA conjugated carbon dots (C-dots) and graphene oxide (GO). The study revealed that the property of MNase to cleave DNA was exploited to inhibit the interaction between C-dots and GO, enabling the detection of MNase of S. aureus. The mechanism of energy transfer was studied using different lengths of ssDNA, confirming the non-toxicity and fluorescence quantum yield of C-dots.
