Polyamide Noncoated Device for Adsorption-Based Microextraction and Novel 3D Printed Thin-Film Microextraction Supports

Dominika Kolodziej et al.

Summary: Polyamide noncoated device for adsorption-based microextraction (PANDA microextraction) is a new, easy to prepare, environmentally friendly, inexpensive, and efficient sample preparation method created entirely with the use of 3D printing. The method utilizes the extractive properties of unmodified polyamide and carbon fiber blends and is compared to thin-film microextraction (TFME). The results show that 3D printed supports can be successfully used as a cost-saving, environmentally friendly solution for TFME devices, with similar extraction yield and sometimes even better extraction efficacy.

Determination of parabens in wastewater samples via robot-assisted dynamic single-drop microextraction and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

Marcio David Bocelli et al.

Summary: Dynamic single-drop microextraction (SDME) was automated using an Arduino-based Cartesian robot and combined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for the determination of parabens in wastewater samples. The robot-assisted technique facilitated the control of dynamic SDME, making the process more feasible, robust, and reliable. This setup proved to be a competitive strategy for the automated extraction of organic pollutants from water samples.

Preparation of ternary hydrophobic magnetic deep eutectic solvents and an investigation into their physicochemical properties

Muhammad Qamar Farooq et al.

Summary: Hydrophobic magnetic deep eutectic solvents (HMDESs), consisting of a hydrogen bond acceptor, hydrogen bond donor, and a metal halide salt, have been prepared and studied for their physicochemical properties. The viscosity, magnetic susceptibility, and thermal stability of these solvents can be easily tailored by varying the composition and molar ratio. With their structural tunability, HMDESs show great potential for a wide range of applications.

Optimizing a High-Throughput Solid-Phase Microextraction System to Determine the Plasma Protein Binding of Drugs in Human Plasma

Kanchan Sinha Roy et al.

Summary: Plasma protein binding refers to the binding of a drug to plasma proteins in the body, which is crucial for understanding the free concentration of a drug in the blood for pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics studies. Accurate determination of free drug concentrations in the blood is important for therapeutic drug monitoring and personalized medicine. The use of C-18-coated solid-phase microextraction 96-pin devices provides a more efficient method for determining plasma protein binding compared to traditional techniques.
