Qualitative analysis of medical student reflections on the implicit association test

Cristina M. Gonzalez et al.

Summary: This study examines medical students' reactions to the IAT and their struggle to identify bias mitigation strategies, despite accepting implicit bias and desiring to provide unbiased care. The results show that students had deep emotional reactions to the IAT, leading to questioning of previous assumptions and paradigm shifts. However, they faced challenges in identifying nuanced bias mitigation strategies in their clinical care.
