An Investigation of Associations Between Race, Ethnicity, and Past Experiences of Discrimination with Medical Mistrust and COVID-19 Protective Strategies

Summary: This study found that everyday discrimination and structural discrimination were related to general medical mistrust and health-specific COVID-19 conspiracy beliefs. Meanwhile, higher endorsement of health-specific COVID-19 conspiracy beliefs was associated with lower engagement in health-specific COVID-19 protective behaviors.

A Stanford Conference on Social Media, Ethics, and COVID-19 Misinformation (INFODEMIC): Qualitative Thematic Analysis

Through thematic analysis of a 6-hour conference transcript, 18 response categories and 4 themes were identified: trust, equity, social media practices, and interorganizational partnerships. Recommendations focus on rebuilding trust in science and medicine, redesigning social media platforms to reduce misinformation spread, improving partnerships, and educating the public.
