Cobalt/Salox-Catalyzed Enantioselective C-H Functionalization of Arylphosphinamides

Qi-Jun Yao et al.

Summary: This study reports an unprecedented enantioselective C-H functionalization enabled by a simple cobalt/salicyloxazoline (Salox) catalysis. Chiral Salox ligands can be easily prepared in one step and used for the synthesis of various P-stereogenic compounds with high yields and excellent enantioselectivities. The isolation and characterization of several intermediates provide insights into the mechanism of active catalytic cobalt species generation, the action of Salox ligands, and the mode of stereocontrol.

Carboxylate-Assisted Iridium (III)-Catalyzed C(sp2)-H Amidation of 2-Aroylimidazoles With Dioxazolones

Sanjit K. Mahato et al.

Summary: This study reports the Ir(III)-catalyzed ortho C-H amidation of 2-aroylimidazoles with 3-aryldioxazolones as an amidating reagent. The method demonstrates a wide substrate scope and compatibility with various functional groups. Mechanistic studies reveal that the cleavage of C-H bond is reversible and not the rate-determining step. The presence of an electron-donating group in 2-aroylimidazoles and an electron-withdrawing group in 3-aryldioxazolones significantly accelerates the reaction, suggesting that nitrene insertion is the rate-determining step.

Regioselective and Redox-Neutral Cp*IrIII-Catalyzed Allylic C-H Alkynylation

Shobhan Mondal et al.

Summary: This study presents a highly regioselective and redox-neutral protocol for constructing 1,4-enynes from unactivated olefins and bromoalkynes through intermolecular allylic C-H alkynylation. The developed mild reaction conditions are tolerant of a broad range of common functional groups, allowing for selective alkynylation of allylic C-H bonds in the presence of other directing groups. Mechanistic experiments support an intermolecular allylic C-H activation followed by electrophilic alkynylation.

Rh(III)-Catalyzed [3+2] Annulation of Aniline Derivatives with Vinylsilanes via C-H Activation/Alkene Cyclization: Access to Highly Regioselective Indoline Derivatives

Shrikant M. Khake et al.

Summary: The Rh(III)-catalyzed reaction of aniline derivatives containing a pyrimidine directing group with vinylsilanes leads to the formation of C3-substituted indoline derivatives via a highly regioselective C-H activation/alkene cyclization cascade. Mechanistic experiments suggest that C-H bond cleavage is not the rate-determining step, but rather the reaction proceeds through the formation of a six-membered rhodacycle as a key catalytic species via pyrimidine-directed electrophilic ortho-C-H rhodation.
