Summary: Hybrid functional biomaterials with biocompatibility and therapeutic and diagnostic characteristics have been developed for target site delivery. In this study, graphene oxide-zinc ferrite hybrid nanocomposites conjugated with doxorubicin were synthesized for cancer therapy and magnetic resonance imaging-based diagnosis. The nanocomposites showed cytotoxicity to cancer cells and induced cell damage and apoptosis by generating reactive oxygen species. The nanocomposites also exhibited potential application in noninvasive MR imaging.

Hierarchical iron oxide nanocomposite: Bundle-like morphology, magnetic properties and potential biomedical application

Photoelectrochemical properties of butane flame-treated niobium-doped hematite thin films grown by the liquid-phase deposition method

Phase transformation and structural evolution in iron oxide nanostructures

Magnetic hardening and an increase in anisotropy constant were observed with increasing nanoparticle size. Additionally, a decrease in saturation magnetization due to the formation of magnetically dead layer on the surface was also observed.
