Sodium Superionic Conductors (NASICONs) as Cathode Materials for Sodium-Ion Batteries

Qingbo Zhou et al.

Summary: Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have developed rapidly due to the abundance, distribution, and low cost of sodium. Sodium superion conductor (NASICON) based electrode materials are promising for sodium storage, but their low electronic conductivity limits their electrochemical performance. Strategies such as coating with carbon, reducing size, combining with other carbon materials, and doping elements have been studied to enhance the conductivity of NASICON-based cathode materials.

One-step large-scale fabrication of Bi@N-doped carbon for ultrahigh-rate and long-life sodium-ion battery anodes

Zhenghui Li et al.

Summary: The fabrication of bismuth@N-doped carbon (Bi@C) was proposed as electrode material for sodium-ion batteries, exhibiting superior sodium storage performance with high specific capacity, excellent rate stability, and long cycle life. The excellent performances of Bi@C were attributed to the nano-sized Bi particles encapsulated by thin carbon layer doped with N, optimizing ion transfer and increasing the accessible area between electrode and electrolyte to provide a high capacitive contribution to the capacity.
