In Situ Study of FePt Nanoparticles-Induced Morphology Development during Printing of Magnetic Hybrid Diblock Copolymer Films

Wei Cao et al.

Summary: The study investigated the morphology evolution of magnetic hybrid films containing DBCs and FePt NPs during printing using GISAXS, revealing that the addition of NPs accelerated solvent evaporation and led to faster film formation compared to pure films, with a longer-lasting metastable state observed during the printing process of the hybrid film. Additionally, investigations showed that the printed hybrid film exhibited superparamagnetism, making it promising for magnetic sensors.

Silica-Coated Gold Nanorod Supraparticles: A Tunable Platform for Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

Jessi E. S. van der Hoeven et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new type of functional assembly called supraparticles, which are formed by the solvent-driven assembly of silica-coated gold nanorods into spherical ensembles. The plasmonic coupling and mass transport are controlled by adjusting the thickness and porosity of the silica shells. These novel materials have the potential to play an important role in sensing applications.

Coupling morphological and magnetic anisotropy for assembling tetragonal colloidal crystals

Zhiwei Li et al.

Summary: The combination of morphological and magnetic anisotropy in colloidal assembly leads to the creation of unconventional secondary structures. Magnetite nanorods interact along critical angles and assemble into body-centered tetragonal colloidal crystals, forming attractive and repulsive domains. The perfect tetragonal phase with brilliant structural colors is attributed to the slow assembly kinetics and the presence of a critical angle in the attractive domain.
