Self-Cascade Uricase/Catalase Mimics Alleviate Acute Gout

Anqi Lin et al.

Summary: Uricase-based therapies for gout are limited by the accumulation of H2O2 in an arthrosis environment, but a novel Pt/CeO2 nanozyme has shown high efficiency in degrading UA and eliminating H2O2 simultaneously. This nanozyme not only improves UA degradation, but also has excellent ROS and RNS scavenging activities, leading to significant pain relief and inflammation reduction in acute gout rats.

Chemical Evolution of Pt-Zn Nanoalloys Dressed in Oleylamine

Alter Zakhtser et al.

Summary: The study investigates the shape, composition, and surface chemistry of Pt-Zn nanoparticles obtained by reduction in oleylamine, with the addition of phenyl ether or benzyl ether influencing the composition and shape. After washing with ethanol, the particles are coated with oleylamine and oxidation products, and upon exposure to air, they oxidize and form a discontinuous ZnO film. Pt-Zn particles are unstable and prone to losing Zn due to preferential oxidation of the less noble metal.

Ligand-Dependent Activity Engineering of Glutathione Peroxidase-Mimicking MIL-47(V) Metal-Organic Framework Nanozyme for Therapy

Jiangjiexing Wu et al.

Summary: A ligand engineering strategy was developed to modulate the GPx-mimicking activity of a metal-organic framework (MOF) nanozyme, resulting in the rational regulation of the GPx-mimicking activities of MIL-47(V)-X MOFs. Among them, MIL-47(V)-NH2 demonstrated excellent antioxidation ability, effectively alleviating inflammatory responses in both ear injury and colitis models. This study proves the feasibility of designing high-performance GPx-mimicking nanozymes and highlights the importance of structure-activity relationships in directing in vivo therapy.

Nanozyme Catalytic Turnover and Self-Limited Reactions

Mohamad Zandieh et al.

Summary: The article discusses the issue of calculating catalytic turnover rates of nanozymes, emphasizing that only surface atoms should be considered as active sites. Different types of nanozymes exhibit varying catalytic activity characteristics, which may be influenced by the adsorption of reaction products.

Au/TiO2-Catalyzed Benzyl Alcohol Oxidation on Morphologically Precise Anatase Nanoparticles

Akbar Mahdavi-Shakib et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the morphology of TiO2 supports affects the catalytic activity of Au/TiO2, with the predominantly {101} material showing higher catalytic activity due to the presence of smaller Au particles providing more interfacial area. The differences between the two catalysts are mainly caused by geometric effects rather than electronic differences.

Strong metal-support interaction induced O2 activation over Au/MNb2O6 (M= Zn2+, Ni2+ and Co2+) for efficient photocatalytic benzyl alcohol oxidative esterification

Jie Wang et al.

Summary: A series of metal niobates were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions, with Au nanoparticles supported on their surfaces through a NaBH4 reduction method. The strong interaction between Au and ZnNb2O6 generated a high-active peroxide species, leading to enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to Au/NiNb2O6 and Au/CoNb2O6. This modulation of interaction between Au and niobates provides a new prospect for highly selective photocatalytic oxidation reactions.
