Machine learning and in-silico screening of metal-organic frameworks for O2/N2 dynamic adsorption and separation

Yaling Yan et al.

Summary: In this study, machine learning-assisted high-throughput computational screening techniques were used to identify the best materials for O-2/N-2 separation at room temperature. The importance of transition metal elements in MOFs for separation performance was highlighted. Thirteen top-performing MOFs were identified for dynamic O-2 adsorption from air, with design strategies such as regulating topology and alternating metal nodes and organic linkers showing potential to enhance MOF performance.

Tuning the Pore Environment of MOFs toward Efficient CH4/N2 Separation under Humid Conditions

Tong Li et al.

Summary: Adsorption separation technology shows promise as an alternative to energy-intensive cryogenic distillation for natural gas separation. However, the performance of adsorbents for CH4/N-2 separation under humid conditions is challenging due to dampening by water vapor. This study demonstrates the improved performance and moisture stability of a series of engineered metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for CH4/N-2 separation.

Fluorine-Induced Electric Field Gradient in 3D Porous Aromatic Frameworks for Highly Efficient Capture of Xe and F-Gases

Wenxiang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption capabilities of two three-dimensional fluorinated porous aromatic frameworks (PAFs) with abundant fluorine for xenon and perfluorinated gases in semiconductor exhaust gases. The results show that these PAF materials exhibit high selectivity in capturing xenon and perfluorinated gases, as well as excellent stability and reusability. Theoretical simulations reveal how the introduction of fluorine atoms creates electric field gradients for the preferential adsorption of highly polarizable gases.
