Summary: Fluorescent carbon quantum dots (J-CQDs) were successfully synthesized from Jatropha fruit for the first time in this study, exhibiting bright blue fluorescence with a high quantum yield of 13.7%. These J-CQDs were used as a fluorometric sensor for pesticide detection, based on irreversible catalytic inhibition of acetylcholinesterase enzyme and controlled fluorescence quenching process.

A nanozyme-based colorimetric sensor array as electronic tongue for thiols discrimination and disease identification

Summary: In this study, a nanozyme-based colorimetric sensor array has been proposed as an electronic tongue for the discrimination and quantification of thiols. By integrating modified graphene quantum dots with transition metal ions, different catalytic activities in metal ion-graphene quantum dot ensembles were achieved. Linear discriminant analysis was used to accurately discriminate six thiol analytes. The sensor array was also able to identify thiol-associated diseases using a machine learning algorithm.
