Enhanced uranium photoreduction on Ti3C2Tx MXene by modulation of surface functional groups and deposition of plasmonic metal nanoparticles

Summary: In this study, an efficient catalyst for U(VI) photoreduction was successfully constructed by depositing silver nanoparticles on two-dimensional Ti3C2Tx MXene with abundant U(VI) binding sites. The catalyst showed high U(VI) extraction mass under light and achieved reduction of U(VI) by decreasing its reduction potential. Hot electrons generated by silver nanoparticles were transferred to the binding sites, further enhancing the reduction of U(VI).

Actinide-uranium single-atom catalysis for electrochemical nitrogen fixation
