National nutrition policy in high-income countries: is health equity on the agenda?

Summary: This study examined how equity and socioeconomic inequalities are represented in government nutrition-policy documents from high-income nations. Despite common concerns about health inequalities, these concerns were often overshadowed by a greater emphasis on lifestyle problems and reductionist policy actions. The need for policy actions to reach everyone and target upstream drivers of health inequalities was rarely backed by specific actions.
