A 2-year-old female springer spaniel and an 8-year-old male Scottish terrier were referred for recurrent oral necrotic ulcers, pseudomembrane, and nasal discharge. Biopsy examinations revealed chronic ulcerative necrotizing stomatitis and chronic neutrophilic, eosinophilic, or plasmacytic rhinitis. Treatment with immunosuppressive agents provided temporary remission, but eventually, both dogs were euthanized due to the painful and recurrent nature of the condition.
A 2-year-old, entire, female springer spaniel and an 8-year-old, entire, male Scottish terrier were referred for recurrent, multifocal, oral necrotic ulcers with pseudomembrane and nasal discharge. Histopathologic examination of biopsies described chronic ulcerative necrotising stomatitis and chronic neutrophilic and, eosinophilic or plasmacytic, rhinitis. Management with immunosuppressive agents resulted in temporary remission of the presenting lesions. Both dogs were eventually euthanized due to the painful and recurrent nature of the condition.
