Don't eat where you sleep: unexpected diversity of food web for beetles feeding on mosses

Petr Pyszko et al.

Summary: The study shows that beetles such as Byrrhidae have a high level of polyphagy when it comes to bryophytes, but there are discrepancies at the individual level with considerably higher moss species richness in beetle stomachs than in their immediate microhabitats, challenging the assumption that bryophyte occupancy and consumption can be used interchangeably when studying host use in these insects.
