Evaluation of regional low-carbon circular economy development: a case study in Sichuan province, China

Meng Ye et al.

Summary: This paper aims to establish a scientific evaluation index system for regional low-carbon circular economic development, using Sichuan Province as a case study. The study found that the development of LCCE in Sichuan had a general downward trend from 2008 to 2012 but a steady upward trend from 2012 to 2018, with lagging energy consumption and environmental carrying capacity subsystem developments being the main factors affecting LCCE development.

Effect of Chinese pilots carbon emission trading scheme on enterprises' total factor productivity: The moderating role of government participation and carbon trading market efficiency

Xiongfeng Pan et al.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of China's pilot carbon emission trading scheme (CETS) on the total factor productivity (TFP) of enterprises, and discusses the mediating role of government participation and carbon trading market efficiency. The study finds that CETS has a significant positive effect on enterprises' TFP, which has been maintained for six years. It also shows that government participation and carbon trading market efficiency moderate the positive impact of CETS on TFP.

Asymmetric inter-linkages between green technology innovation and consumption-based carbon emissions in BRICS countries using quantile-on-quantile framework

Asif Razzaq et al.

Summary: The study reveals that in BRICS countries, green technology innovation has a significant emission-reducing effect at high emission quantiles, while it is weakly or positively correlated with carbon emissions at low emission quantiles. Conversely, high carbon emissions instigate green innovation across medium to high emission quantiles. The results suggest that when a country has higher emissions levels, green technology innovation can help mitigate carbon emissions.

Contribution of renewable energy consumption to CO2 emissions mitigation: a comparative analysis from the income levels' perspective in the belt and road initiative (BRI) region

Junsong Jia et al.

Summary: The study reveals that renewable energy consumption in the BRI region has an overall decreasing trend, but plays a significant role in mitigating CO2 emissions, especially in mid- and low-income countries. It is essential to focus on renewable energy development to reduce carbon emissions, as shown by the contrast in energy intensity effects between high and low income groups within the BRI region.

The effect of energy patents on China's carbon emissions: Evidence from the STIRPAT model

Junbing Huang et al.

Summary: This study reveals that energy patents from enterprises and scientific institutions have a positive impact on reducing carbon emissions, while those from higher education institutions enhance this effect. Utility-type energy patents significantly decrease carbon emissions, but creation-type patents offset this positive effect.
