Summary: The purpose of this study was to assess the challenges and successes faced by local food pantries and food banks during the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings indicated that while food pantries had to shift operations, they remained committed to serving their clients. However, establishing a sustainable volunteer base was a challenge.

Summary: Food pantries play a significant role in the dietary quality and nutrient intake of rural food pantry participants, with around 40% of dietary intake coming from food pantries. Participants have higher intake of certain nutrients from food pantries compared to other sources. There is a significant interaction between household food security and food sources, with food-insecure participants relying more on food pantries and supermarkets for their dietary intake.
