Regarding Class Quizzes: a Meta-analytic Synthesis of Studies on the Relationship Between Frequent Low-Stakes Testing and Class Performance

Lukas K. Sotola et al.

Summary: The meta-analysis found a moderate association between the use of frequent low-stakes quizzes and students' academic performance in real classes, with stronger effects seen in psychology classes. Additionally, quiz performance was strongly correlated with academic performance and predictive of later exam performance. Furthermore, the use of quizzes was associated with a significantly higher likelihood of passing a class.
