Preoperative radiographs to predict component malposition in direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty

Matthew D. Free et al.

Summary: By analyzing preoperative radiographic features, it is possible to predict patients at risk of component malposition in DAA THA, which can help surgeons in better treating patients during the operation.

Effectiveness of a patient-specific guide for femoral stem implantation in primary total hip arthroplasty: a randomized control trial

Xin Jin et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and feasibility of a novel CT-based patient-specific femoral alignment guide (PSG) compared to conventional pre-operative planning in THA. The PSG group showed significant improvements in lower limb length, femoral offset, femoral anteversion, and stem varus/valgus angle. Patients in the PSG group also had better HHS scores and lower perception of leg length discrepancy. There was no significant increase in operative time, blood loss, or VAS. No complications were noted.

Patient-specific total hip arthroplasty is superior to conventional methods for Crowe III and IV adult developmental hip dysplasia: a randomized controlled trial

Chenggong Wang et al.

Summary: The new patient-specific instrument (PSI) developed in this study can improve the accuracy of acetabulum and cup prosthesis placement and orientation, optimize the surgical process, reduce complications, and promote faster recovery of hip function in adults with Crowe III and IV DDH-THA. However, little difference was noted for those with Crowe I and II DDH.

The Accuracy of Patient-Specific Instrumentation with Laser Guidance in a Dynamic Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Radiological Evaluation

Andrea Ferretti et al.

Summary: This study verified the reliability and accuracy of patient-specific instrumentation and laser-guided technique in replicating preoperative dynamic planning. The use of these tools intraoperatively resulted in excellent component orientation and surgical outcomes, with negligible increase in surgical time.

Advances and innovations in total hip arthroplasty

Andreas Fontalis et al.

Summary: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is considered one of the most successful and cost-effective procedures in Orthopaedics, with a growing number of surgeries being performed globally. Utilizing advanced technology like robotic systems can improve surgical outcomes, but long-term data is required to assess cost-effectiveness.
