Yue Yuan et al.

Summary: Unlike previous research focusing on the positive outcomes of leader humor, this study explores the reasons and conditions that lead to negative effects such as employee incivility. By creating a cross-level second-stage moderated mediation model, the study finds that employee psychological safety mediates the relationship between leader humor and employee incivility. Leader moral identity negatively moderates the relationship between employee psychological safety and incivility, as well as moderates the mediating effect of employee psychological safety between leader humor and employee incivility.
