Gender differences in the reaction to COVID-19

Avital Laufer et al.

Summary: The study found that during the pandemic lockdown, women exhibited higher levels of depression, anxiety, and somatization, with more women stopping work due to the lockdown and fewer women considered essential workers. Women were more concerned about others' health and financial situations than men, but there were no gender differences in concerns about their own health, with women using more coping strategies. Men showed higher levels of resilience and belief in a just world, with gender, age, coping strategies, resilience, worries about the economy, and family health explaining 43% of the variance in psychological distress.
