Evacuation behaviors in tsunami drills

Chen Chen et al.

Summary: This paper presents the use of tsunami evacuation drills to understand and improve evacuation behaviors in a coastal community. The study collected spatial trajectory data using GNSS and used probability functions to model walking speeds during the drills. The results showed that factors such as slope, time spent during evacuation, and rough terrain influenced evacuees' speed. The study also highlighted the importance of the drill as an educational and assessment tool, providing evidence-driven solutions for tsunami preparedness.

Associations between functional fitness and walking speed in older adults

Tingting Wu et al.

Summary: The study found moderate correlations between functional fitness and walking speed in older adults. Age and dynamic balance and agility were identified as key indicators affecting walking speed, while gender, aerobic endurance, and lower body flexibility were key fitness indicators affecting maximum walking speed in older adults.
