Pollution concern during globalization mode in financially resource-rich countries: Do financial development, natural resources, and renewable energy consumption matter?

Muhammad Usman et al.

Summary: The study explores the impact of financial development, natural resources, globalization, and energy consumption on the ecological footprint in financially resource-rich countries, finding that financial development, natural resources, and non-renewable energy positively affect the ecological footprint, while globalization and renewable energy reduce it. The interaction between financial development with globalization and renewable energy with natural resources is also shown to reduce environmental deterioration, highlighting the importance of improving financial and natural resource structures and increasing renewable energy consumption in these countries.

How critical are resource rents, agriculture, growth, and renewable energy to environmental degradation in the resource-rich African countries? The role of institutional quality

Oluwasegun B. Adekoya et al.

Summary: Although there are increasing studies on the determinants of environmental degradation, the unique characteristics of some countries in some regions have been overlooked. This study examines the impacts of resource rents, agriculture, growth, and renewable energy consumption on environmental degradation, taking into consideration the resource richness of African countries. The influence of institutional quality is also examined. The findings show that renewable energy consumption reduces environmental degradation in the short and long run, while growth worsens it. The impacts of agriculture and resources rents vary across different periods, but both raise the level of environmental degradation. Institutional quality plays a moderating role, reversing the positive influence of renewable energy and strengthening the negative impact of growth.

Do renewable energy consumption and financial globalisation contribute to ecological sustainability in newly industrialized countries?

Yang Miao et al.

Summary: This study uses the Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR) technique to analyze the impact of financial globalization and renewable energy consumption on ecological footprint in newly industrialized countries. The findings suggest that financial globalization and renewable energy consumption contribute to environmental quality, while economic growth and natural resource consumption increase ecological footprint. The study also validates the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis and finds that financial globalization indirectly affects the environment through natural resources.

Does it take international integration of natural resources to ascend the ladder of environmental quality in the newly industrialized countries?

Tomiwa Sunday Adebayo et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the data of ten newly industrialized countries (NICs) between 1990 and 2018. The results show that natural resource rent is detrimental to the global goal of carbon neutrality. However, globalization can moderate this effect, and there is a positive correlation between economic growth and environmental quality. Additionally, renewable energy utilization and globalization independently promote environmental quality in these countries.

Towards achieving eco-efficiency in top 10 polluted countries: The role of green technology and natural resource rents

Fu Chen et al.

Summary: This study examines the influence of green technology and natural resource rents on eco-efficiency using panel data from the top 10 polluted nations. The results show that green technology, natural resource rents, the squared term of economic complexity, and the interaction term of green technology with financial development positively affect eco-efficiency. However, financial development has a negative impact on eco-efficiency. The study suggests that governments should focus on improving environmental quality and shifting investment programs towards green strategies.

Solomon P. Nathaniel et al.

Summary: The study examines the relationship between natural resource exploration, globalization, urbanization, and environmental degradation in Latin American and Caribbean countries. It finds that human capital plays a moderating role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and there is a causal link between economic growth and emissions. The study suggests promoting sustainable growth-driven industries and enhancing human capital to mitigate CO(2) emissions in the region.

Environmental aspect of energy transition and urbanization in the OPEC member states

Stephen Taiwo Onifade et al.

Summary: The study finds that fossil fuel utilization has a significant positive impact on environmental degradation in the selected OPEC countries, while the negative impact of renewable energy utilization and urbanization on carbon dioxide emissions is insignificant in both the short and long run. The current energy transition policy of OPEC states is not sufficient for environmental sustainability, and the Environmental Kuznets Curve is not valid in the panel of OPEC countries. The research also shows a uni-directional causality from income level to renewable energy consumption, and urbanization strongly Granger causes fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions among the countries.
