Satisfaction Evaluation of Rural Human Settlements in Northwest China: Method and Application

Summary: This study establishes a framework to evaluate the satisfaction of rural human settlements in northwest China and conducts an empirical study in Yanchi County. The research shows a relatively high overall satisfaction degree, but uneven satisfaction scores among the six dimensions and significant differences between villages. Villages are categorized into three types based on residents' satisfaction, with corresponding strategies suggested for sustainable rural settlement development.

Intergenerational Solidarity and Life Satisfaction among Empty-nest Older Adults in Rural China: Does Distance Matter?

Summary: The study found that the influence of intergenerational solidarity (except associational solidarity) on life satisfaction was strongest among older adults living in the same city as their children. Additionally, there were gender differences in the moderating effect of parent-child distance on the relationship between intergenerational solidarity and life satisfaction. Social services could benefit from focusing on older adults with children who have migrated to different provinces to protect their well-being.
