Governing urban redevelopment: A case study of Yongqingfang in Guangzhou, China

(Im)mobility at the margins: low-income households' experiences of peripheral resettlement in India and South Africa

Summary: The expanded state-subsidised housing programmes in middle-income countries have raised concerns about the displacement and socio-spatial marginalisation of poor households. Through a comparative study, it was found that the relocation of low-income households to urban peripheries poses challenges to their physical and socio-economic mobility, impacting their ability to build secure urban futures. Housing policies and practices are hindering secure urban citizenship for low-income groups, locking them into marginality through mobility constraints.

Market-Induced Displacement and Its Afterlives: Lived Experiences of Loss and Resilience

Displacement and estate demolition: multi-scalar place attachment among relocated social housing residents in London

Summary: This paper contributes to the debate on forced relocation and displacement of social housing residents due to estate regeneration, by providing an experiential perspective on residential relocation. The study examines the post-displacement experiences of social housing residents in London who returned to new-build flats at the redeveloped mixed-tenure estates. The findings reveal that while residents experience positive outcomes at the home scale, their place attachments at the block and neighbourhood scales suffer from extensive disruptions and losses.
