Experimental determination of octanol-water partition coefficient (KOW) of 39 liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) by use of the shake-flask method

Ming Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, experimental octanol-water partition coefficients (K-OW) of 39 liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) were measured, showing variations depending on specific structures with values generally falling in the range of 4.94-7.62. A quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) model was established based on the experimental data to predict values for LCMs without authentic standards, achieving a goodness-of-fit with a determination coefficient (R-2) of 0.810. The study suggests that LCMs tend to accumulate in the fatty tissue of organisms in aqueous environments.

Effects of acylated and nonacylated anthocyanins extracts on gut metabolites and microbiota in diabetic Zucker rats: A metabolomic and metagenomic study

Kang Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of nonacylated and acylated anthocyanins on gut metabolites and microbiota in diabetic rats. The results showed that both anthocyanin extracts increased cecal sugar levels and the abundance of certain bacterial species, while decreasing the abundance of others. Acylated anthocyanins had more regulatory effects and were more beneficial in diabetes.

Acylation of blueberry anthocyanins with maleic acid: Improvement of the stability and its application potential in intelligent color indicator packing materials

Peng Fei et al.

Summary: By acylating blueberry anthocyanins with maleic anhydride through solid-phase grafting method, their stability in intelligent color indicator packing materials can be improved, although with slightly decreased efficiency in scavenging the DPPH radical. An-MA2 showed the best color stability among all acylated anthocyanins tested.
