Influence of chain-like cobalt particles on the properties of magnetorheological elastomers

Yu Tong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of particle structures on the performance of magnetorheological elastomers (MREs). By preparing different particle structures, it was found that chain-like particles can enhance damping and storage modulus. A relationship curve between the magneto-rheological effect and the distance between adjacent particles was proposed based on this work.

Fabrication of high-performance magnetic elastomers by using natural polymer as auxiliary dispersant of Fe3O4 nanoparticles

Chuanhui Xu et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared Fe3O4-based magnetic elastomer composites using the latex film-forming method. The addition of CMCS significantly improved the dispersion of Fe3O4 and the interfacial compatibility with XSBR matrix. The composite exhibited enhanced tensile strength and saturation magnetization compared to neat XSBR.

Water-Dispersible Fe3O4 Nanoparticles Modified with Controlled Numbers of Carboxyl Moieties for Magnetic Induction Heating

Takehiro Yachi et al.

Summary: Introduction of carboxyl group enabled excellent water dispersibility and stability of monodisperse Fe3O4 nanoparticles, making them suitable for applications such as water-based ferrofluid and hyperthermia treatment. The COOH-modified Fe3O4 NPs exhibited typical ferrofluid behavior and high dispersion stability in water for over 6 months. Magnetic induction heating performance evaluation yielded a specific absorption rate (SAR) value of 38.3 W/g Fe, indicating the potential advantages of the developed nanoparticles for precise surface design and therapeutic applications.

Magnetorheological Fluids with Surface-Modified Iron Oxide Magnetic Particles with Controlled Size and Shape

Chen Shen et al.

Summary: This study focuses on surface-modified Fe3O4@SiO2 particles with controlled sizes and shapes applied in magnetorheological (MR) fluids. Results show that surface modification with DTM improves dispersion stability, and the introduction of anisotropic shapes and increase in particle size contribute to the enhancement of MR properties.

Enhancement of the rheological properties of magnetorheological elastomer via polystyrene-grafted carbonyl iron particles

Siti Khumaira Mohd Jamari et al.

Summary: The study involved grafting polystyrene-coated CIP into MRE, resulting in lower storage modulus compared to uncoated CIP MRE and a higher MR effect by 28.04%. The coated-CIP MRE exhibited higher damping behavior with a loss factor exceeding 0.14 compared to 0.12 of the uncoated sample.

A Solvent-Polarity-Induced Interface Self-Assembly Strategy towards Mesoporous Triazine-Based Carbon Materials

Rui Zhang et al.

Summary: A new method using solvent polarity induced interface self-assembly strategy has been developed to construct mesoporous triazine-based carbon materials with uniform tunable pore sizes, high surface areas, and ultrahigh nitrogen content. These materials exhibit predominant CO2 adsorption performance and exceptional selectivity for the capture of CO2 over N-2.
