Macrocycle-Based Porous Organic Polymers for Separation, Sensing, and Catalysis

Zheng Li et al.

Summary: As the field of materials science advances, porous organic polymers (POPs) have gained significant attention for their unique properties and potential applications, particularly in molecular adsorption, separation, and catalysis. With the development of macrocycle-based POPs, there is a growing interest in their hierarchical structures and improved performance, offering valuable insights for understanding molecular complexity at a skeletal level. Research on macrocycle-based POPs has progressed in terms of synthesis, properties, and applications in separation, sensing, and catalysis, presenting exciting prospects for the future of this field.

A pillar[5]arene-based crosslinked polymer material for selective adsorption of organic dyes

Ge Zhang et al.

Summary: Industrial wastewater containing organic dyes poses a severe threat to the global aquatic ecosystem. Exploring low-cost and environmentally friendly adsorbents has become a major task for effectively eliminating organic dye contaminants. In this study, a new type of polymeric dye adsorbent was fabricated, which showed outstanding potential in selectively adsorbing and separating small cationic dyes. Experimental results validated the adsorption behaviors matched the pseudo-second-order model and Freundlich isotherm model, and the adsorption rate was determined by both external and intra-particle diffusion. The pillararene-based polymer adsorbent could be recycled multiple times with almost no loss of adsorption efficiency.

Progress in adsorption capacity of nanomaterials for carbon dioxide capture: A comparative study

Rabita Mohd Firdaus et al.

Summary: This study discusses the four most studied nanostructured adsorbents for carbon dioxide capture, and describes the capture processes, interested nanomaterials, and modifications for improving efficiency. The results reveal that the improvement of CO2 capture does not solely depend on high surface area and pore volume of the nanosorbents.

Highly Branched Pillar[5]arene-Derived Porous Aromatic Frameworks (PAFs) for Removal of Organic Pollutants from Water

Yun-Zhe Guo et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the fabrication of PAF-P5 for efficient adsorption and removal of organic pollutants from water, with a limitation towards aromatic organic dyes. By chemically breaking down the pillar[5]arene rings in PAF-P5, the resultant PAF-DeP5 exhibited altered adsorption capabilities towards different types of organic pollutants.
