Laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry of L-thyroxine (T4) using combi-matrix of α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (CHCA) and graphene

Joo-Yoon Noh et al.

Summary: An optimal combi-matrix consisting of CHCA and graphene was developed for the analysis of L-thyroxine (T-4) in human serum using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. The combi-matrix showed improved heat transfer properties compared to CHCA alone, leading to enhanced ionization efficiency. The combination of CHCA and graphene exhibited improved limit of detection and wider detection range compared to other combi-matrices. The feasibility of the combi-matrix for the analysis of T-4 was confirmed through MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.

Quantitative analysis of vitamin D using m/MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry based on a parylene matrix chip

Joo-Yoon Noh et al.

Summary: The study presents a method for quantitative analysis of 25(OH)D-3 based on a parylene matrix chip, involving modification of 25(OH)D-3 and analysis using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Results showed that the method can effectively quantify 25(OH)D-3 in serum, with high linearity and low limit of detection.

α-Cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic Acid and Tri-Potassium Citrate Salt Pre-Coated Silicon Nanopost Array Provides Enhanced Lipid Detection for High Spatial Resolution MALDI Imaging Mass Spectrometry

Martin Dufresne et al.

Summary: The researchers have developed a pre-coated substrate for MALDI IMS that allows high spatial resolution mapping of lipids with increased sensitivity. Pre-coating NAPA with CHCA and potassium salts before thaw-mounting tissue significantly enhances the signal intensity of phospholipids and neutral lipids, reducing the necessary laser power for desorption/ionization.

Carboxymethyl group activation of dextran cross-linked superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles

Jae Won Lee et al.

Summary: Monodispersed magnetic nanoparticles with high stability and biocompatibility were synthesized successfully, avoiding agglomeration of nanoparticles due to their magnetic force. A stepwise process for carboxymethyl activated cross-linked superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles was developed, showing no significant adverse effects on cells. These findings suggest the potential biomedical applications of the developed CM-CL-SPIONs as versatile nanocarriers.
