Morphological tuning engineering of Pt@TiO2/graphene catalysts with optimal active surfaces of support for boosting catalytic performance for methanol oxidation

Kefu Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the efficient catalysts for the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) by using porous graphene with morphology-controlled TiO2 supported Pt nanoparticles. It is found that TiO2 nanorods with specific facets effectively enhance the Pt trapping ability, improve the adsorption of methanol molecules, and weaken CO intermediate poisoning. The resulting catalysts exhibit superior catalytic activity and long-term durability, surpassing most reported electrocatalysts.

Geometric Engineering of Porous PtCu Nanotubes with Ultrahigh Methanol Oxidation and Oxygen Reduction Capability

Feng Xu et al.

Summary: By modulating Pt precursor and PVP dosages, different porous PtCu nanotubes were successfully synthesized, with solid PtCu alloy nanoparticles showing higher MOR activity and hollow PtCu alloy nanospheres displaying higher ORR activity. The differences in Pt:Cu ratios among the hollow nanospheres, solid alloy, and Pt-rich skinned nanoparticles lead to variations in electron transfer and electronic structures of Pt, resulting in enhanced MOR and ORR activities.
