Effects of Time of Pruning and Plant Bio-Regulators on the Growth, Yield, Fruit Quality, and Post-Harvest Losses of Ber (Ziziphus mauritiana)

Shashi et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of pruning times and stress-mitigating plant bio-regulators on the yield and quality of Indian jujube. The results showed that pruning in the second week of April had the most positive influence on most variables, especially fruit parameters. Among the plant bio-regulators, the application of thiourea at 1000 ppm had the best effect.

Genetic diversity assessment and population structure analysis of pomegranate cultivars from different countries and Himalayan wild accessions

Raghavendra Gunnaiah et al.

Summary: Pomegranate is a hardy crop with nutritional and medicinal benefits, and utilizing wild germplasm resources can help breed new varieties with superior qualities. Genetic analysis revealed moderate genetic differentiation among different country accessions, with Himalayan wild resources showing modest genetic differentiation and high gene diversity. Exploiting genetically distant Himalayan wild resources with high gene diversity can be beneficial for breeding for resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
