Effect of dietary isopropanol on the performance and milk quality of dairy cows

J. M. Bragatto et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to examine the effects of isopropanol alone or in combination with ethanol on performance, metabolism, and milk quality of dairy cows. The results showed that isopropanol and ethanol did not impair the performance of dairy cows, but isopropanol was present in milk and induced false-positive results at the ethyl alcohol test in raw milk.

The Influence of Delayed Sealing and Repeated Air Ingress during the Storage of Maize Silage on Fermentation Patterns, Yeast Development and Aerobic Stability

Kirsten Weiss et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of delayed sealing and repeated air ingress on the fermentation, yeast growth, and aerobic stability of maize silage. The results show that delayed sealing leads to increased yeast numbers and volatile organic compound formation, while repeated air ingress has minimal impact on fermentation pattern and dry matter losses. Additionally, there is a strong relationship between yeast numbers and aerobic instability.
