Quick mapping and characterization of a co-located kernel length and thousand-kernel weight-related QTL in wheat

Xiangru Qu et al.

Summary: In this study, a co-located QTL related to kernel traits in wheat was rapidly identified using BSA and SNP array. Its effect was validated in a panel of 218 wheat accessions. Notably, this QTL did not negatively affect plant height or anthesis date, making it a valuable target for breeding programs.

Quantitative trait loci identification and breeding value estimation of grain weight-related traits based on a new wheat 50K single nucleotide polymorphism array-derived genetic map

Xiaofeng Liu et al.

Summary: This study identified 91 quantitative trait loci (QTL) related to grain traits using a genetic map and discovered QTgw.cib-6A as a major stable QTL contributing to excellent grain performance in Zhongkemai 138. The candidate interval of QTgw.cib-6A was narrowed down using developed markers, and its potential contribution to high-yield breeding was validated in different genetic backgrounds.
