FXR expression in rats of hilar cholangiocarcinoma

Meng-yu Zhang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the expression of farnesoid X receptor (FXR) in a rat model of hilar cholangiocarcinoma and found that FXR expression in hilar cholangiocarcinoma was significantly lower than that in normal hilar bile duct tissues. This finding provides a new approach for the development of drugs targeting FXR for the treatment of hilar cholangiocarcinoma.

Correlations between CD4+FoxP3+ Treg and expression of FoxM1 and Ki-67 in gastric cancer patients

Kai Ma et al.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the clinical significance of CD4(+)FoxP3(+) Tregs in gastric cancer patients and investigate their correlation with FoxM1 and Ki-67 expression. Results showed that the proportion of CD4(+)FoxP3(+) Tregs in the peripheral blood was significantly higher in patients with late AJCC stage or lymph node metastasis. Additionally, the levels of Treg cells were positively correlated with the protein expression of FoxM1 and Ki-67 in gastric cancer tissues.

Cytotoxic CD8+T cells in cancer and cancer immunotherapy

Hans Raskov et al.

Summary: The functions and interactions between the innate and adaptive immune systems play a crucial role in anticancer immunity. Cytotoxic T cells with CD8 as the most effective effectors in the anticancer immune response form the basis of successful cancer immunotherapies. Advancements in genetically modified or synthetic receptors on cytotoxic T cells are being developed for future cancer treatment. Combinatory regimens may optimize treatment effects and reduce adverse events in cancer therapy.

Prognostic impact of tumor microvessels in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: association with tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes

Kyohei Yugawa et al.

Summary: Tumor microvessel density (MVD) is a prognostic factor for patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). A low MVD in ICC patients is associated with larger tumors, more frequent microvascular invasion, higher metastasis rates, and worse prognosis. MVD is positively correlated with CD8+ TILs and negatively correlated with Foxp3+ TILs, but not significantly correlated with PD-L1 expression.

circPVT1 regulates medullary thyroid cancer growth and metastasis by targeting miR-455-5p to activate CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling

Xun Zheng et al.

Summary: The study shows that miR-455-5p suppresses MTC growth and metastasis by targeting the CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling pathway, while circPVT1 promotes MTC growth and metastasis.

Identification of Hub Genes and Their Correlation With Immune Infiltration Cells in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Based on GEO and TCGA Databases

Rui Huang et al.

Summary: This study identified 14 hub genes in HCC whose expression levels were significantly up-regulated and negatively correlated with overall survival time, and were also positively correlated with immune infiltration cells. Among these hub genes, KIF2C and UBE2C showed the most significant correlation with immune cell infiltration in HCC, suggesting their potential as prognostic biomarkers for guiding immunotherapy.

Therapeutic strategies targeting FOXO transcription factors

Giampaolo Calissi et al.

Summary: FOXO proteins are transcription factors that are involved in regulating stress responses to maintain cellular homeostasis. Dysregulation of FOXO protein functions contributes to cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and neurological diseases. This review summarizes the biology of FOXO proteins, their roles in disease and longevity, and discusses pharmacological approaches to develop FOXO-targeting therapeutics.
