Green investments, financial development, and environmental quality in Ghana: evidence from the novel dynamic ARDL simulations approach

Mohammed Musah et al.

Summary: This study fills the knowledge gap regarding the relationship between green investments, financial development, and environmental quality in Ghana. The results show that green investments improve environmental quality in Ghana both in the long and short term through carbon dioxide emissions reductions. However, financial development and energy utilization have a detrimental influence on the environment due to their positive impact on carbon dioxide emissions.

The roles of foreign direct investments, economic growth, and capital investments in decarbonizing the economy of Oman

Ishfaq Hamid et al.

Summary: Oman, traditionally reliant on indigenous fossil fuel supplies, faces environmental degradation despite economic prosperity. Positive shocks to foreign direct investments, economic growth, and capital investments increase carbon dioxide emissions in the short and long run, while negative shocks reduce emissions. The findings also support the environmental Kuznets curve and pollution haven hypotheses.

A Symmetry and Asymmetry Investigation of the Nexus Between Environmental Sustainability, Renewable Energy, Energy Innovation, and Trade: Evidence From Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis in Selected MENA Countries

Anselme Andriamahery et al.

Summary: The motivation of this study is to assess the impact of renewable energy consumption, energy innovation, and total trade on environmental sustainability in selected MENA countries. The study utilized several econometric tools and found unidirectional causality between renewable energy and environmental sustainability, trade and environmental sustainability, and a feedback relationship between energy innovation and environmental sustainability. The study suggests specific sectoral environmental reforms, reduction of subsidies on nonrenewable energy, and the implementation of green trade policies to advance sustainable development in Tunisia and Morocco.

Decarbonization pathways: the roles of foreign direct investments, governance, democracy, economic growth, and renewable energy transition

Ishfaq Hamid et al.

Summary: This study aims to explore the effects of foreign direct investments, governance, democracy, renewable energy use, and economic growth on carbon dioxide emissions in the BRICS countries. The findings indicate that good governance and strong democracy help reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and these factors also mediate the effects of foreign direct investment and economic growth on emissions. Additionally, adopting renewable energy instead of non-renewable energy further curbs carbon dioxide emissions.

The role of renewable energy and urbanization towards greenhouse gas emission in top Asian countries: Evidence from advance panel estimations

Fengsheng Chien et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of clean energy, urbanization, and economic growth on greenhouse gas emissions in ten Asian States from 1995 to 2018 using a cross-sectional autoregressive distributed lagged (CS-ARDL) model. The study finds that clean energy and GDP(2) play a constructive role in reducing GHG emissions, while urbanization and economic growth contribute to increased emissions. The findings have policy implications for energy economics and environmental sustainability.
