Morphological evaluation of the risk of posterior communicating artery aneurysm rupture: a mirror aneurysm model

Wei-Dong Xu et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the morphological parameters of 45 pairs of ruptured mirror posterior communicating artery (PCoA) aneurysms and found that aneurysm width, aneurysm with daughter sac, and aneurysm with height > width were independent risk factors for rupture. The study established a scoring system to predict rupture risk and demonstrated its accuracy.

Dynamical variations of the terrestrial water cycle components and the influences of the climate factors over the Aral Sea Basin through multiple datasets

Zengyun Hu et al.

Summary: This study examines the trends and variability of terrestrial water cycle components over the Aral Sea Basin during 2003-2016, revealing an increase in annual precipitation and evapotranspiration, while terrestrial water storage anomaly, runoff, soil moisture, and groundwater show decreasing trends. These results provide valuable information for water resource management in the region.

High emissions could increase the future risk of maize drought in China by 60-70 %

Huicong Jia et al.

Summary: This study analyzed and assessed the drought risks and yield loss of China based on the Shared Socio-economic Pathway (SSP) scenarios and climate models. The results showed that as emissions scenarios increased, the areas affected by drought and yield loss in maize cultivation increased, along with a significant increase in high-risk areas. These findings are crucial for developing agricultural drought risk reduction and adaptation plans.

How Well Does the ERA5 Reanalysis Capture the Extreme Climate Events Over China? Part I: Extreme Precipitation

Xiangyong Lei et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of ERA5 in simulating extreme precipitation events in China using precipitation indices. The results show that ERA5 performs well in simulating annual total precipitation and intensity indices, but has limitations in simulating frequency and duration indices. The study highlights the need for ERA5 to improve its simulation of trend changes in extreme precipitation events.

The Elabela in hypertension, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, and preeclampsia: an update

Chuanming Xu

Summary: This review highlights the therapeutic potential of Elabela in treating hypertension and related diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, and preeclampsia. The systemic administration of Elabela has shown vasodilatory, antihypertensive, cardioprotective, and renoprotective effects. Fusion with inert chemicals or other proteins may enhance the efficacy of Elabela in clinical applications for hypertension therapy.

Western North Pacific Tropical Cyclone Database Created by the China Meteorological Administration

Xiaoqin Lu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the access to and characteristics of the tropical cyclone (TC) database maintained and actively developed by the China Meteorological Administration, which records data on all TCs passing through the western North Pacific and South China Sea since 1949. With continuous TC monitoring and multi-source data collection, the database now comprises a wide range of information related to TCs, supporting ongoing research into TC climatic activity and forecasting.

A long-term perspective of hydroclimatological impacts of tropical cyclones on regional heavy precipitation over eastern monsoon China

Lihong Wei et al.

Summary: Based on the analysis of TC-induced RHPEs in eastern monsoon China, it was found that the frequency and duration of these events have significantly increased over the past few decades, showing seasonal and interdecadal variability. With the warming climate, the exceedance probability of extreme TC-induced RHPEs, especially destructive ones, is on the rise, posing a great challenge to society in dealing with the increasing risk of catastrophic disasters associated with these events.

Contributions of climate change and human activities to runoff variations in the Poyang Lake Basin of China

Xiangyong Lei et al.

Summary: The research indicates that climate change accounts for 91.88% of the increase in runoff depth, while human activities in the subbasins may decrease the runoff depth in the Poyang Lake Basin. The impact of climate change on runoff depth increases during the flood season, and both climate change and human activities contribute similarly to runoff depth during the non-flood season.

Does non-stationarity of extreme precipitation exist in the Poyang Lake Basin of China?

Xiangyong Lei et al.

Summary: In the Poyang Lake Basin of China, extreme precipitation was found to exhibit non-stationary characteristics, with intensity and frequency increasing significantly while duration decreased significantly. The risk of extreme precipitation can be better captured using the GAMLSS method, which outperforms traditional stationary methods in estimating extreme precipitation intensity. More attention should be given to the increase and fluctuation of extreme precipitation return periods due to mean non-stationarity and variance nonstationarity.

Typhoon wind hazard model and estimation on return period of typhoon wind speed

Summary: The study found that different typhoon decay models have minimal impact on predicting extreme wind speeds, while extreme wind speeds predicted by different extreme value distributions can vary greatly. Wind speeds predicted by empirical track models are generally higher than those predicted by simplified tracking models.

Summary: The study analyzed the trend and stationarity of climatic variables in various climatic zones of Iran, finding an increasing trend in mean air temperature but a decreasing trend after eliminating serial correlation factor. Seasonal mean air temperature showed a significant increase, while precipitation trend revealed an insignificant downward trend. Spatial patterns indicated northwest Iran and Caspian Sea margin areas are more vulnerable to climate change.
