Probabilistic Transformations of Quantum Resources

Bartosz Regula

Summary: This paper presents a new resource monotone that can rule out all transformations, probabilistic or deterministic, between states in any quantum resource theory. The results obtained from this approach provide significant improvements for probabilistic distillation protocols, allowing for better error and overhead bounds. The monotone also serves as a necessary and sufficient condition for state convertibility.

No-Go Theorems for Quantum Resource Purification: New Approach and Channel Theory

Kun Fang et al.

Summary: Recent research has shown that there are fundamental limits to the accuracy and efficiency of purifying noisy resource states to pure ones. The authors develop a novel method for analyzing these limitations and derive improved bounds for a broader range of noisy states. They also establish a robust no-purification theory for quantum channel resources, and discuss the connections and applications of their results to various areas in quantum information.

Operational Resource Theory of Imaginarity

Kang-Da Wu et al.

Summary: Wave-particle duality is a fundamental feature of quantum mechanics, with complex numbers playing an important role in describing quantum systems and their dynamics and interactions. Through theoretical and experimental research, it has been proven that quantum states are easier to manipulate if they only have real elements. This research confirms that complex numbers are essential in quantum mechanics.

Fundamental limitations on distillation of quantum channel resources

Bartosz Regula et al.

Summary: The authors establish universal limitations on the processing of both quantum states and channels, focusing on distillation tasks. They develop fundamental restrictions and comprehensive lower bounds for the error and overhead in distillation protocols, showing applications to magic state distillation and quantum channel capacities.

Transformations of multilevel coherent states under coherence-preserving operations

LiMei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the transformations of multilevel coherent resource states, showing that any two such states can be interconverted with a nonzero probability through specific coherent-preserving maps. Additionally, it is discovered that no resource state is isolated in the framework of multilevel coherence, with the possibility of interconversion between different coherent states.

Framework for resource quantification in infinite-dimensional general probabilistic theories

Ludovico Lami et al.

Summary: Resource theories provide a framework for characterizing properties of physical systems, with a universal resource quantifier based on robustness. It can be used to quantify resources in general probabilistic theories and is computed through convex conic optimization problems. The robustness acts as a faithful and strongly monotonic measure in resource theories described by convex and closed sets of free states, and has applications in various physical resources such as optical nonclassicality, entanglement, non-Gaussianity, and coherence.
