Complete biodegradation of di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) by a novel Pseudomonas sp. YJB6

Nai-Xian Feng et al.

Summary: A novel bacterium Pseudomonas sp. YJB6 isolated from PAEs-contaminated soil showed strong DBP-degrading activity and could completely degrade DBP within a short period. YJB6 presented a complex and complete degradation pathway for DBP, with high degradation rates and reusability when immobilized.

Occurrence, health risks and soil-air exchange of phthalate acid esters: A case study in plastic film greenhouses of Chongqing, China

Yutong Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the occurrence, health risks, and soil-air exchange of PAEs in different greenhouses during two seasons. It was found that concentrations of PAEs in greenhouse soil and atmosphere varied significantly between seasons, with dietary intake identified as the main exposure route for adults. The total carcinogenic risk level of PAEs was considered acceptable. Additionally, the movement of PAEs between soil and air was influenced by temperature and the chemical properties of the compounds.
