Behavior and mechanism of graphene oxide-tris(4-aminophenyl) amine composites in adsorption of rare earth elements

Xiaoru Zhao et al.

Summary: Three-dimensional graphene oxide-tris(4-aminophenyl)amine (GO-TAPAx:y) composites with different GO-to-TAPA mass ratios were prepared and characterized for their adsorption capacities of rare earth elements (REEs). The results indicate that the introduction of specific molecules enhances the adsorption ability of the composites, making them feasible for the enrichment of REE ions in real samples.

Assessment of adsorption performance of chitosan/ZrO2 biosorbent composite towards Cs (I) and Co (II) metal ions from aqueous solution

G. A. Dakroury et al.

Summary: Three different CTS-ZrO2 composites were prepared and used as bio-sorbents for Cs (I) and Co (II) metal ions, with adsorption equilibrium reached after 60 mins. Optimum pH values were found to be 9 for Cs (I) and 6 for Co (II). Kinetic modeling revealed a pseudo 2nd order adsorption reaction.

Summary: The study on insoluble ferrocyanide composites for Cs-134 sorption showed that maximum adsorption capacities of 14.803 and 15.627 mg/g were achieved by mKCoFC/SG and iKCoFC/SG, respectively, at pH 5.5 and 25 degrees C. The sorption process was found to be favorable with a pseudo-second-order kinetic model.

Adsorptive characteristics of some metal ions on chitosan/zirconium phosphate/silica decorated graphene oxide

Essam S. Zakaria et al.

Summary: The graphene oxide/chitosan/zirconium phosphate/silicate (GO/CS/ZrP/Si) nano-composite exhibits high adsorption capacity for radioactive isotopes and lanthanide ions. Adsorption kinetics and isotherms were compared, showing excellent performance of the composite material. The calculated thermodynamic parameters indicate efficient adsorption of lanthanide ions.

Kinetic and isotherm studies for the sorption of 134Cs and 60Co radionuclides onto supported titanium oxide

E. A. A. El-Shazly et al.

Summary: TiO2 is supported on silica gel surface in a 1:1.329 mole ratio to form the TiO2(0.5)/SiO2(0.5) composite, which is characterized by physico-chemical techniques and used as a sorbent for Cs-134 and Co-60 radionuclides. The composite shows saturation sorption capacities of 33.1 and 17.7 mg g(-1) for Cs-134 at pH 9.5 and Co-60 at pH 5.5, respectively, with an adsorption mechanism following the Freundlich isotherm. The process is found to be spontaneous and favorable.

Summary: The ZnO/Chitosan nanocomposite prepared by sol-gel method was used as a sorbent for Cs(I) and Sr(II) successfully. The sorption process was optimized for pH, contact time, initial metal ion concentration, and temperature. The sorption reaction followed pseudo-2nd order kinetics and exhibited spontaneous and endothermic behavior.

Pickering-emulsion-templated synthesis of 3D hollow graphene as an efficient oil absorbent

Nurul Aqilah Pohan et al.

Summary: The study developed lightweight 3D hollow graphene with excellent sorption efficiencies for oil absorption, attributed to its multi-level porosity and high surface area. The graphene can be recycled through ten sorption-desorption cycles without significant losses in efficiency, making it a promising material for oil spill incidents.
